Review: Broken Dove (Fantasyland, #4) by Kristen Ashley

Broken Dove (Fantasyland, #4)Broken Dove by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved this story!
The characters and the story were great.
As in true KA fashion, the male protagonist (Apollo, Lo) could be super sweet and then turn into the biggest asshole until he gets his head out of his ass and starts being the man he’s meant to be.
Ilsa (Madeleine) came to this Fantastical land broken.
Mentally, physically, and spiritually broken.
Her husband of ‘our world’ (Pol) did that to her.
She’s been able to live this long because she’s living on her survival instincts and will do whatever it takes in order to keep breathing.
I loved this woman’s character because no matter how broken she was, she still had the heart of a lion and the loyalty of a warrior.
After much pain, patience, and understanding from Lo; and Maddy learning to trust herself, it was beautiful to witness a once beautiful and broken dove finally mended and whole again.

That being said, the reason I only gave this book a 4-star rating is because I wasn’t too fussy on was how much detail KA used to describe the clothing, the rooms in the different buildings the characters entered, and the scenery.
It got to the point that when I saw a setting coming up where KA was about to get into great detail about something I starting just skimming over it so I could get back to the dialogue and the characters.

This book has over 600 pages. 600 pages!
KA could have easily published this book with 400 pages and the essence of the story would not have been lost.

A great read, but it was a loonnnnng read.
