WOW! What a powerful story!
Ms. Valentine beautifully wrote a story about a woman who was in an abusive relationship with her husband for six years and survived.
Evangeline’s healing journey included learning to first trust herself, and then open herself to others.
Hunter is the police officer who found her six months ago after a beating by her husband that almost killed her, and he knows first-hand what it’s like to be at the hands of an abuser.
He can’t get her out of his mind. He wants her. She’s stirred something in him he thought he would never have, and he’ll do whatever it takes to show her she can trust him with her heart and her body.
I loved that the author wrote this story in a dual POV. It was amazing ‘seeing’ each character through their eyes.
I loved their journey to one another, and finally, them both learning to open their hearts to one another.
My favorite quote in the book is at the end of the Epilogue where the author says, “To those who make it out, I wish you joy and happiness….and peace.”
Thank you, Ms. Valentine, for this wonderfully written story of survival, hope, love, and peace.
